Blog assignment 1 - Recycling

Recycling is part of our everyday life, or at least it should be. Some countries in the world take this extremely seriously, some don’t. To make our planet run and function we need to take recycling and our waste to a much higher level.
This is a long and slowly moving process so in the timeframe of 1-5 lying years I don’t think that there would be a lot of changes. It takes time to teach people about the right way to recycle and were to throw their garbage. Also people don’t seem to get the message that this is a serious matter and that the world is a disposable place.

In 5-65 years we probably could have a ton a waste just lying on the streets. All the recycling stations would be so packed with rubbish that there wouldn’t be any room to put it all. People would get sick from breathing in all the toxics and we would literally live in our own dirt...
But all this is preventable if we start to take this issue more seriously. One key factor would be not to use so much disposable material and stuff that you only use ones and then throws away. Everybody needs to make a change to help save the world, otherwise our planet would probably look a lot different for the next generations.

  1. I agree with what you are writing, people really don´t take recycling and the enviroment seriously and that´s of course a big problem... Do you think that people would accept to, as an example, bring their own bottles to the store when buying milk so that we don´t have to throw away all those cartons? Or when buying lunch at a restaurant, you bring youre own box to fill with food, so we could avoid all those disposable plastic boxes? Of coure there is a million things we can improve, but we have to start somewhere!

  2. This subject will always be a hot potato and the leaders of the manufacturing industries must take their responsibility and make sure that the factories produce environment friendly gods.
I believe that it´s good that schools teach the children how to take care of our garbage. In that way the children can teach their parents and so forth.

  3. This is a global problem with global and local effects. Dont you think in Sweden right now we have a pretty good system? Most waste are burned and are a part of municipal heating system. This will off course emit green house gases but it will be better than using oil or coal to produce that heat. I think its important to see the entire system when you make big changes.

But even if we use a good system to take care of our waste its a really good idea to produce lesser and lesser garbage since it takes a lot of energy to produce all the shit we consume.

    So lets hope for change!
